Amine M’RAIHI
Amine was born on 30th March 1986. Early in his childhood, he used to
hear Arabic classical songs when his father was frequently listening
to them. So at three and four, Amine was singing the Salah Abdelhay
famous song Idounia Btidhhak Hawalina. At six, he started learning Ud
( Lute) with a private teacher. At seven, he began a follow of the Makni
musical School. There he met his second and main Ud teacher Kamel GHARBI.
With Kamel GHARBI, Amine was introduced to the way of perfection, rigor
and application. During four years, Amine enjoyed his young teacher
weekly courses. Each summer and for two weeks, Amine and his teacher
used to have intensive courses. In these periods, Amine used to practice
over than twelve hours daily. Quickly, it became clear that Amine had
something particular in his feeling and in his manner of playing. At
the end of these four years, Amine reached a good level. It was time
to move to another teacher and another school of playing lute. Since
Yousra DHAHBI was specially focused on the Iraqi ud school. With Yousra
DHAHBI, Amine was introduced to new pieces and new atmosphere. After
a year, Amine reached a high technical level.
In 1999 summer, Amine travelled to Morocco and spent more than a month
with the marrocan ud master Said CHRAIBI.
Coming back Tunisia, Amine met the Tunisian master Ahmed KALAI and worked
with him one main aspect of the oriental music : the art of improvisation.
Then, he met Mourad SAKLI with who he perfected his interpretation.
When Amine met for the first time Necati Celik in Istanbul, the turkish
master spent two hours listening to him and then concluded that he couldn’t
add anything to Amine,and that he was already an accomplished ud player.
Amine was graduated in oriental music in 1999 and obtained the first
national prize of ud.
Amine is trying to invent a New way of playing based on a perfect technical
control of his instrument introducing some guitar , Indian sitar and
bass techniques ,preserving the improvisation as a crucial aspect of
his music .
Hamza M’RAIHI
Hamza was born on 26th April 1987. Early in his childhood, he used to
hear Arabic classical songs when his father was frequently listening
to them. So at three and four, Hamza was singing the Salah Abdelhay
famous song Idounia Btidhhak Hawalina. At seven, he started learning
Kanun (a kind of cymbalum played with plectrum) with different teachers.
At eight, he began a follow of the Makni musical School. There he met
his main kanun teacher Jamel ABID. With him Hamza found a master with
a new method of teaching Kanun. In fact, Jamel ABID wrote a very appreciate
method of teaching Kanun over used in many conservatories and countries.
During five years, Hamza enjoyed the meetings and weekly courses with
Jamel ABID.
Each summer and for two weeks, Hamza and his teacher used to have intensive
courses. In these periods, Hamza used to practice over than twelve hours
daily.
In 1999 summer, Hamza travelled with Amine to Morocco and met there
for three weeks the ud Moroccan master Said CHRAIBI. This meeting introduced
Hamza to the
When Hamza went for the first time to Istanbul in 2000 summer, he realised
the long way he will have to cross to reach the level of the Turkish
Kanun players. Teached and supported by the Turkish master Halil KARADUMAN
and his brother Muslim, Hamza worked hard. So hard as his fingers were
bleeding. Practising hours and hours daily, his progress was wonderful.
Since that time, Hamza came again and again to Istanbul, looking for
a close contact to masters like Halil KARADUMAN and Goeksel BAKTAGIR.
Hamza was graduated in oriental music in 1999 and obtained the first
national prize of Kanun.
